Breast MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the breast — or breast MRI — is a noninvasive and safe imaging technology used for a variety of reasons including screening for breast cancer in women at high risk, to help plan surgery, to monitor breast cancer treatment, and as an additional test to follow inconclusive mammograms. MRI can also be used as image guidance during breast biopsies. Unlike mammograms, MRIs do not use radiation. Magnetic and radio waves are used to generate highly detailed images of the breast which are reviewed and interpreted by your radiologist.
