Vein Health
Simple and minimally invasive procedures that can help improve the cosmetic appearance of spider veins and alleviate pain related to varicose veins
Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective FDA approved treatment for eliminating varicose and spider veins. Your doctor will inject medication through a tiny needle into the vein. This results in a chemical irritation of the lining causing the vein to close and fade away over time. You may require several treatment sessions in order to achieve the desired cosmetic result.
Endovenous laser ablation treatment (EVLT) is a minimally invasive treatment that uses heat to seal abnormal veins and relieve related uncomfortable symptoms. Using imaging guidance and a tiny needle, the interventional radiologist threads a thin laser fiber into the problem vein. The skin and length of the vein is numbed to minimize discomfort. The laser heat causes the vein to close from the inside. Once the problem vein is closed, blood will flow through the remaining healthy veins in the leg. This is all accomplished while you rest comfortably. Recovery is minimal and you can resume most normal daily activities immediately.
Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves removing uncomfortable bulging varicose veins that lie just beneath the skin surface through tiny “pinhole” incisions. Your doctor will numb the skin and tissue around the vein with a local anesthetic prior to removing the veins. The procedure is less invasive than surgical “vein stripping” with faster healing, less discomfort, and shorter recovery. Patients can resume most regular activities following the treatment.
