Endovascular Laser Ablation (EVLT)

Endovenous laser ablation treatment (EVLT) is a minimally invasive treatment that uses heat to seal abnormal veins and relieve the uncomfortable symptoms they cause. Using imaging guidance and a tiny needle, the interventional radiologist threads a thin laser fiber into the problem vein. The skin and length of the vein is numbed to minimize discomfort during the treatment. The laser heat causes the vein to close from the inside. Once the problem vein is closed, blood will flow through the remaining healthy veins in the leg. This is all accomplished while you rest comfortably. Recovery is minimal and you can resume most normal daily activities immediately.
