Ureteral stent placement
Patients who have a blockage or narrowing of the ureter (the tubular structure that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder) may benefit from the insertion of a ureteral stent. These plastic stents can relieve pain and treat kidney infections by ensuring that urine can flow freely into the bladder. Stent insertion is performed with imaging guidance to ensure accurate positioning. A major benefit of these devices is that since the drainage of urine is internal, no external drainage tubes or bags are required.
